National e-prescription provider MediSecure suffered a catastrophic data breach compromising 12.9 million individual records, marking one of Australia's largest health sector exposures. Approximately 6.5TB of data—containing personal identities and sensitive prescription history up to November 2023—was exfiltrated from a server managed by a third-party vendor. The severe financial and operational fallout subsequently forced the company into voluntary administration.
