What happened

The major national healthcare provider confirmed that a malicious actor breached its corporate systems on June 23, 2026, exfiltrating highly sensitive health and identity records across a network of 21 general practices in NSW, Victoria, QLD, WA, and the ACT. Stolen datasets include names, dates of birth, Medicare numbers, private health insurance identifiers, and extensive medical treatment profiles (including GP consultation notes, pathology summaries, and referral letters). Partnered Health reported the breach to the ACSC, OAIC, and law enforcement, and has sought an interim injunction from the Supreme Court of NSW to prevent the dark web publication of the datasets.
