What happened

Melbourne-based automotive dealership management software provider Auto-IT confirmed a cyber security incident after being targeted by the Storm ransomware group. The breach compromised Auto-IT's infrastructure, indirectly cascading to impact multiple client car dealerships across Australia (including Penfold Motors and Sharp Motor Group) whose dealer management systems relied on Auto-IT's software environment. Auto-IT isolated affected systems, engaged external incident response and cybersecurity forensic specialists to contain the breach, and issued formal notifications to regulatory authorities, partner networks, and compromised dealership clients.
